More Inspiration!
Tonight they are starting the new "Clean House: Search for the Messiest Home in America." I love this show. This show goes to cluttered homes, cleans it out, has a yard sale, then redecorates. I love it for the brutality of watching people get rid of things, the horror of things that people cling to like life-rafts, and then the awesome decorating tips at the end.
The Naughty Drawer
This is my nightstand:

As you can see, it's crowded with a lot of stuff. Mainly books, but some other things. And the drawer is full of, oh let's call them, "Fun Adult Items." Yes the drawer that if Dan and I are killed, someone better come and clean out before my mom sees it. This was today's project.
First some stuff I tossed:
TWO airconditioner remotes for units we dont't even have anymore.
How freaky are we? A slicker brush and salve freaky.
Now, these are things I am giving away/selling:
Because it's never not funny to have cats in hats.
Dirty books! I think I might mail these to friends who will understand the humor .
Now this I am keeping.
AND all the good toys, which I won't post since some people who read this might faint. This is just the stuff I can show. LOL!
ANd now the after:
Next is the top of Dan's dresser, where socks go to die.
In bags, apparently:

The Book Battle
I love to read. I do. I used to read more before children and, yes, crafting took over my life. But I do read a lot for a woman with no spare time to speak of. But, this also leads to a lot of book purchases. For me, and for the kids. And this, my friends, leads to the battle. The Book Battle between Dan and me.
Get away from the children's books, HATER!

The books we are selling.

The bag of trash I picked up in a quick 5 minute room purge.

Yeah, the giant amount of Easter candy from my parents, that it hitting the trash can. I don't need it, they don't eat it.

A little something for Gen.
Dan admits that he is not a reader. He reads online stuff, but not a "made of paper" book. He does like reference books, especially books with pictures, since he can use them when he draws. And he is also OK with cook-books, since they can be useful. Now, he lets me have my crafting books, but in his mind, all fiction books can go. I don't always feel that way. Also, he thinks that ANY reference book should stay, even if I don't want it, and it doesn't have photos. I don't feel that way. So, the battle rages. (he also has this thing against some children's books, because they aren't drawn right, they are boring, or the google eyes make him angry, but that's a whole other can of worms.)
Tonight, I decided to take 10 minutes and do a purge of the bookcase. Dan helped out. This is where his hatred of children's books reared it's ugly head and words were exhanged about keeping a big ghost book from 1997 that neither one of us has opened in probably 7 years.

Coming Clean
Well, not really clean. But, I'm exposing this dark side of my life to the world. Well, to you all, but you matter. This is my crafting stash. All of it.
In the photos you'll see all the places where I keep supplies. It's mainly yarn, but I have advanced to stitching and fabrics. When I lived in the City, it was contained to a closet. But now that I have more space, I have more stuff. Maybe if I went Amish and sold my children to bring in money and free up my time, I could get through these projects in about 8 years. But, with reality, I know I suffer from SABLE (Stash Accumulated Beyond Life Expectancy.)
So, here it is, for all to see. My pride, my joy, my shame, my stash.
My closet, and if you turn the corner there are two more levels up and that's got stuff too.
The basement. All the bins have crafting supplies. Two of them have holiday stuff.
The corner of my closet. I hide stuff from Dan here.
The foot of our bed. Two more bins!
My crafting table in the living room.
In better news, I have thrown out the following:
1) St. Patrick's day (a garter, some earrings)
2) Old medications from our medicine chest
3) Magazines that I KNOW Dan isn't going to read. He won't admit it, but he's got a touch of hoarder in him too.
4) Plastic toys that the kids forgot about.
But, then I went out shopping last night and bought some fabric. It's an illness!
