YAY!

There is talk on the E board of this getting going again. While I have no pics to show for it... I cleaned out some things from the playroom to "make room" for Christmas. Currently, they are being saved to cycle back through when the baby comes, but that is at least something. I'd still like to go through the playroom and clean it out, there is way too much in there.

I thought I'd maybe write some goals on here to help me get motivated again--- and anyone else can post their own goals too!

1. Take at least one more walk through the playroom and GET RID of anything the boys don't LOVE and play with often.
2. Recently, I totally cleaned out one hallway closet... one more to go. do it.
3. Baby's closet. Not even an option here. Must be done.
4. My closet (again).
5. kitchen cabinets. One at a time, clean them out/up.

That's a good place to start huh? Sort of big projects, but I don't have to tackle them all in one day.

goals updated

Just wanted to see where I am on my goals:

This is what I posted Monday:

This week:
-Today will be nothing unless I tackle my purses. Which actually may take several days. I have dumped two of them into a bigger bag. That bag is sitting staring at me, waiting for me to go through it but I don't have the desire yet.
-Tomorrow will be a pass as well. MUST do laundry.
-Wed will be just walk around and grab ten things.
-Thursday- more desk. It's getting there, but still not complete.
-Friday- something in the kitchen.

And here's what really happened:
Monday-- purses, coats, book stack
Tuesday--freezer
Wed-- nothing
Thursday--nothing
Friday-- three kitchen problem spots!

Not too bad, huh?!
Yesterday was just a bad bad day, I would have liked to have been in my house more, but it didn't happen, we were out a lot. So next week the desk will go back on the agenda!

Because I'm leaving town next week my posts will become sporadic, unless I start cleaning out my parents' house...

weekly goals

Weekend recap:
-Sat I got ten small McDonalds toys out of the playroom. I've put them in a bucket and I'm planning to keep adding to it and sell them for a quarter each at our yard sale that I've decided we MUST have. Probably mid-late June.
-Sunday was the linen closet below.

BTW-- I love this blog! I may not be able to mentally be there with taking control of my weight at the moment, but it's empowering, taking control of my HOUSE! Thank you girls!

Birthday Gifts

I'm dipping my toe in slowly but with goals. For the entire month I will accomplish the 10 things--either get rid of or find homes for the items around my house I have been ignoring. That is a little bit a day that hopefully adds up to a lot.

For the 1st, I picked items from K's birthday party. Her birthday was in Jan, the party was mid-Feb. Like every parent, we have lots of toys. She received many clothes this year that were put away quickly. The toys made it to corner of the downstairs living room, gifts bags and all. There they sat. Out of the way, but in the way. We don't go downstairs often but I always knew they were there. To end April we got toy storage units and I knew a bunch of the craft type items would go there. So while I did not toss that much, I got a lot cleaned up.

1. stamp set
2. package of googly eyes
3. package of pipe cleaners
4. playful patterns set I can't wait to play with
5. construction paper
6. many glue sticks, because no one buys just one
7. a necklace
8. many highlighters
9. many markers
10. The reusable bag a bunch of this was in and some cash stuck in a card.

While putting this away, some christmas and easter craft items were put into their correct bins, K's craft bin was organized, kid writing paper was sorted and random items were recycled. It felt good to finish. Sorry no pictures since my camera was not at my house.

Off to do day two right now.

pictureless post

I wanted to just take a quick minute to post some goals... This weekend was a fly-by joke and I knew it would be. But here's my plan for the week.

Mon- laundry. My closet. It's on. even if I start small and don't tackle all of it.
Tues- just ten things. (or more closet, depending on where I stand at the end of Monday)
Wed-just ten things.
Thurs-desk papers
Fri-linen closet floor

So many other projects are coming to mind (more drawers in the kitchen, desk drawers, the top of the ironing board....), but I need to remember that this is about ten things every day for the long haul of making a more pleasing household, not about tackling as many big projects as we can until we pass out (THANK YOU MORGAN for the reminder Thursday).

Today's ten things included clothing tags on my dresser, trash around my side of the bed and an overflown trashcan of tissues next to the bed. (overflown so badly that I was using the empty tissue box to stuff new dirty tissues in). ugh. I didn't picture it before I went but I'm glad it's gone and maybe I can recognize the need to empty the small trash can from time to time.
