Armoire

I can finally post the before and after pictures of my armoire! I have had it emptied and cleaned, but everything in it hadn't found a home until tonight. I didn't feel legit in posting it until I had done something with everything that was in it.

Back story on the armoire: My husband surprised me with this beautiful antique armoire for my 34th birthday. We had just been married for about 6 months and were living in an apartment. This was our first real piece of furniture.

I got rid of one full garbage bag of clothes and my box of maternity clothes is currently on eBay (just under two days to go, 6 bids at $46.25 with 11 watchers--how much do you think it will go for???).

I'm still trying to figure out what to do on the left side. There is wasted valuable space!

Tomorrow I return to Z's room to go through some more bins of baby clothes. Hopefully.

Socks and Undies

My armoire has been my task for most of the weekend. And, although it is clean now, I'd be cheating to post after pictures because I still have two bins of things to go through. So, here's a teaser of the sock and undie drawers.
I don't have specific before pictures of this, but I got rid of all the old period panties (we all have them---at least *I* think we do), the miscellaneous unmatched socks, and things that just needed to move on.

I had bought these drawer organizers years ago at the Lillian Vernon Outlet (they used to have stores around us). They were super cheap and have really been helpful in my organization. They used to be stuffed to the gills, but I've eliminated most of the un-necessaries and it now helps satisfy my deeply hidden anal retentiveness.
Before and after pics to follow when I finish sorting through the last two containers....

I did it!

I overcame a huge obstacle tonight! I listed my maternity clothes on Ebay! There are 17 new items from the Gap. They have been sitting in my armoire (yes, I'm working on my armoire!) for 16 months. I've felt ashamed and guilty for having these things. I'm very proud of myself for finding the gumption to do this tonight!
17 Items
5 Shirts
2 sweater and a blazer/jacket:
5 Pairs of Pants
2 skirts and 2 pairs of jeans

I listed the lot for $9.99 starting bid. I'm hoping and praying to at least make up some of the money spent on these. If anything, they will be out of the house and my guilt gone!
